Mozambique!

Tofo, Mozambique. My Indian Ocean paradise.
Christine with a big dish of clams and a tasty beer on our first day in Maputo, Mozambique.

Lobster! Just selected from the fish market and prepared at a restaurant stall nearby. Yum!

My friends Paco, David Cross and Heidi happily, and enthusiastically, eating shrimp, lobster and fish.

Amber taking a second helping.

Christmas Day

Christmas day lunch with my friend Kitso (farthest to the left in the orange shirt) and her family. Christine, my fellow PC volunteer friend, joined us.

Victoria Falls

Victoria Falls from the Zambia side. My pictures obviously can't capture how beautiful it was.
Looking out over the edge of the falls. We went swimming up here and it was like being in a hot tub with the water rushing around you.

Hiking up from the bottom of the falls.

The Victoria Falls Bridge spanning the Zambezi River. The bridge links Zambia to Zimbabwe.

Jungle Junction, Zambia

River cruise with Brian and Allie. Thanks for visiting guys! You take the prize for best friends ever!
The bar at Jungle Junction- a hostel in Zambia. No bartender- just help yourself and mark down what you've taken.

Moroko's (dug out canoes) and a sunset over the Zambezi river. Paradise?

Helping to prepare lunch one afternoon. Preparing 4 dishes over one outdoor fire means lunch takes a long time. Not sure if we ate everything because it was tasty or because we were starving.

Brian, always prepared, had hand sanitizer to pass around before we started eating with our hands. I think after the time in Ghana when I told him to eat somewhere because I'd had a great meal and he ended up with insane diarrhea means that he no longer trusts me around food and came prepared this time. Not that the hand sanitizer could protect us against everything...but luckily, no one got sick.

Most amazing trip in the history of the world...Part 1

These pictures are a little backwards....

But this is the Zambezi River- the border between Zambia and Botswana. This is taken from the ferry- the only ferry that goes back and forth- and we're facing Botswana. The ferry is only big enough for one tractor trailer truck and 2 cars. Trucks are lined up for weeks waiting to get across. Seems like there could be a more efficient way..
As we were finishing up the safari we came across some young lions in love!

Our camp site....can't remember if this is pre or post elephant scare.

Allie decked out in her safari attire. Looking tres chic!

Botswana wedding

Bride and Groom- wearing western style outfits. Can't remember which one I'm "related" to..
Older woman parading the wedding gifts on their heads. A tradition I'd like to start stateside.

The same older women sleeping outside while the endless flow of speakers continues. I can imagine they, like me, are just counting down the minutes until we eat.

Being cheered on by an older relative. I'm attempting to help pound beef and goat meat into what we call Seswaa. It's like pulled pork (except it is not pork...and there are little chunks of bones). I need to start carrying around a bottle of bbq sauce.

A steaming cauldron of seswaa
